The Johnson Drove recently announced that the critically acclaimed, nationally touring exhibition Central to Their Lives: Southern Women Artists in the Johnson Drove volition be on view at Wofford College Sept. vii to Dec. 18.
Spanning the decades between the late 1890s and early on 1960s, "Fundamental to Their Lives" examines the specially complex challenges Southern women artists confronted in a traditionally conservative region during a period in which women'due south social, cultural, and political roles were being redefined and reinterpreted.

She graduated from Antipodal in 1973 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Comparative Literature and earned her Principal of Arts in Classics from the University of Northward Carolina.
She has remained engaged in support of Antipodal as a past fellow member of the Alumnae Lath and by president of the Board of Visitors. She has been recognized with the Distinguished Alumnae Honour in 1985 and the Antipodal 100 Honour. Her dedication to her alma mater is evident with her institution of the Emily Jones Rushing Scholarship in 2001 for students with financial need and the support, with her husband Hugh, of the Converse Writing Center through the Jones-Rushing Endowment Fund.
Her career began in local news reporting and editing, primarily at The Birmingham News. She remains engaged in journalism as a founding board member and electric current lath president of the Alabama Establish for Independent Journalism/BirminghamWatch, one of more than 240 news nonprofits around the country.
